Gardens By The Bay SG60: Glows For Nation’s 60th Celebrations August 2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable chapter in Singapore’s diamond jubilee year, and Gardens by the Bay is at the heart of the celebration. From firefly-inspired biodegradable lights to towering orchid Supertrees, a nostalgic National Day concert and family-friendly festivities, the Gardens is pulling out all the stops for SG60. Titled “From a Light Show Inspired by Fireflies to Supertrees Made of Orchids”, this month-long programme is more than a visual feast—it’s a heartfelt tribute to Singapore’s identity, creativity and resilience. Here’s what to look forward to across the city’s most iconic garden. SPARK: A Silent Spectacle of Biodegradable Light Making its Southeast Asian debut, SPARK by acclaimed Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde reimagines fireworks through a sustainable lens. Taking place at the Supertree Grove Lawn, this free installation features thousands of glowing, floating biodegradable lights that drift silently across the sky, inspired by fireflies and constellations. It’s a poetic call to come together and celebrate not with noise, but with awe and wonder. Date: 31 July – 3 August 2025 Time: 8.00pm – 10.00pm (31 Jul – 2 Aug), 9.00pm – 10.30pm (3 Aug) Location: Supertree Grove Lawn Admission: Free SPARK is jointly organised by Gardens by the Bay and H&B, with art partner IMBA, and supported by GIC and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, also commemorating 60 years of Singapore-Netherlands ties. Orchid Extravaganza: Supertrees in Bloom, Stories in Petals Back by popular demand, the Orchid Extravaganza transforms the Flower Dome into a love letter to Singapore’s floral and cultural heritage. This year’s display features orchid interpretations of the Supertrees, Peranakan architecture, and even the beloved orchid paintings of Lee Hock Moh, a Cultural Medallion recipient. It’s a deeply Singaporean experience told through the national flower. Date: 1 – 31 August 2025 Time: 9.00am – 9.00pm Location: Flower Dome Admission: Charges apply National Day Concert: Ties That Bloom The annual Gardens by the Bay and MediaCorp National Day Concert returns with a heartfelt theme: Ties That Bloom. The concert celebrates the shared roots and connections that make us uniquely Singaporean—with a line-up of beloved artists including Kit Chan, Taufik Batisah, Hady Mirza, Charlie Lim and more. Adding a touching layer to the night are performances by multigenerational local families—from JJ Neo and her mother Lucy Neo to Rahimah Rahim and her granddaughter Alyaa. Expect nostalgia, unity, and plenty of goosebump moments under the stars. Date: 3 August 2025 Time: Fringe activities from 4.30pm; Concert from 7.30pm – 9.00pm Location: The Meadow Admission: Free NDP Bay Celebrations @ Gardens by the Bay On 9 August, Gardens by the Bay becomes one of five satellite locations for NDP 2025—offering a relaxed, outdoor setting at The Meadow where friends and families can gather to watch the Parade via live telecast. But that’s not all. Expect surprise performances amid the crowd, interactive activities, and photo ops with giant local food art installations. Live acts include busker Jeff Ng and jazz collective The Jazzlings, while nostalgic games like giant pick-up sticks and oversized flag erasers add a playful throwback vibe for all ages. Date: 9 August 2025 Time: 4.15pm – 9.00pm Location: The Meadow Admission: Free A Garden Where SG60 Takes Root From biodegradable lights to blooming tributes, celebrity voices to kampung games, Gardens by the Bay is marking SG60 in every sense—sight, sound, memory and meaning. Whether you’re soaking in the shimmer of SPARK or dancing at the National Day concert, August 2025 invites you to experience Singapore’s milestone moment in the city’s most extraordinary garden.
