Gardens By The Bay SG60: Glows For Nation’s 60th Celebrations

August 2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable chapter in Singapore’s diamond jubilee year, and Gardens by the Bay is at the heart of the celebration. From firefly-inspired biodegradable lights to towering orchid Supertrees, a nostalgic National Day concert and family-friendly festivities, the Gardens is pulling out all the stops for SG60. Titled “From a Light Show Inspired by Fireflies to Supertrees Made of Orchids”, this month-long programme is more than a visual feast—it’s a heartfelt tribute to Singapore’s identity, creativity and resilience. Here’s what to look forward to across the city’s most iconic garden.

SPARK: A Silent Spectacle of Biodegradable Light

Making its Southeast Asian debut, SPARK by acclaimed Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde reimagines fireworks through a sustainable lens. Taking place at the Supertree Grove Lawn, this free installation features thousands of glowing, floating biodegradable lights that drift silently across the sky, inspired by fireflies and constellations. It’s a poetic call to come together and celebrate not with noise, but with awe and wonder.

SPARK is jointly organised by Gardens by the Bay and H&B, with art partner IMBA, and supported by GIC and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, also commemorating 60 years of Singapore-Netherlands ties.

Orchid Extravaganza: Supertrees in Bloom, Stories in Petals

Back by popular demand, the Orchid Extravaganza transforms the Flower Dome into a love letter to Singapore’s floral and cultural heritage. This year’s display features orchid interpretations of the Supertrees, Peranakan architecture, and even the beloved orchid paintings of Lee Hock Moh, a Cultural Medallion recipient. It’s a deeply Singaporean experience told through the national flower.
