This October, one of the most recognisable and enduring musicals of all time makes its long-awaited return to Singapore. CATS The Musical arrives at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, for a strictly limited season, inviting you and your loved ones to step once more into the magical world of the Jellicle Cats. Presented by Base Entertainment Asia in association with GWB Entertainment and LW Entertainment, the 2026 season marks the latest chapter in the musical’s storied local legacy, following its acclaimed runs in 2015 and 2019.

Entering the World of the Jellicle Cats

Based on T S Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the musical unfolds on one extraordinary night of the year, the Jellicle Ball. Against the backdrop of a fantastical oversized junkyard, each Jellicle Cat steps forward to share its story, quirks and desires. At the heart of the gathering is Old Deuteronomy, the wise and benevolent leader tasked with choosing one cat to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new Jellicle life.

Beloved characters such as the rebellious Rum Tum Tugger, the magical Mr Mistoffelees, the mysterious Macavity and the dignified Grizabella bring the stage to life through movement, music and personality. The experience is immersive, playful and emotionally resonant, offering moments of spectacle alongside quieter reflections on memory, belonging and renewal.

Since its world premiere in London in 1981, CATS has become one of the longest-running shows in both West End and Broadway history. It has been staged in over 30 countries, translated into 15 languages and seen by more than 73 million people worldwide. The production has garnered some of the theatre’s highest honours, including Olivier Awards, Tony Awards and Grammy Awards for its original cast recordings.
