This holiday season, Hong Kong is about to get a whole lot more whimsical. Enter Merry Balloon Hong Kong — a cross-IP celebration bringing nearly 20 globally loved characters to the city in the form of towering helium balloons, playful AR hunts, citywide stamp rallies, and the city’s first-ever balloon parade. Running from 24 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, this festival is the largest of its kind in Asia and a dream come true for families, pop culture fans, and content creators alike. Merry Balloon Hong Kong promises interactive fun, nostalgia, and immersive art — all set against the glittering skyline of Victoria Harbour.
The lineup includes household names and cult favourites alike: SpongeBob SquarePants, Peppa Pig, Moomin, Garfield, Care Bears, CoComelon, PAW Patrol, The Little Prince, M&M’s, Mr. Men Little Miss, MOLLY, Lulu the Piggy, and more. Whether you grew up with them or your kids adore them today, these characters will be reimagined as giant floating balloons that pop up across the city from cultural landmarks to shopping districts.
This event is more than just balloon-spotting. It unfolds across three main experiences, each designed to turn everyday city spaces into interactive holiday playgrounds.
From 24 November 2025, take part in a citywide AR balloon hunt — just register via www.merryballoon.com.hk, and use your phone to spot giant virtual balloons at nine key locations, including Central Market, West Kowloon Cultural District, and Star Ferry Piers. Each location unlocks an exclusive e-stamp. Complete the set and you could win one of 100 limited-edition character pin sets.
Pair this with the City Stamps Collection postcard journey, pre-order a set of 16 beautifully illustrated postcards for HK$38 on Klook, collect stamps at the hotspots, and redeem a Wear & Carry Character Pin Tag for just HK$68 while stocks last.
From 6 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, the Great Lawn at Art Park (West Kowloon) transforms into an inflatable dream world. In the Giant Bouncy Zone, dive into oversized balloon worlds, race through a 40m track, and conquer a 7m slide. Over at the Snap & Play Zone, strike a pose with a towering Christmas tree and life-sized character displays under sparkling lights, perfect for family photos and Instagram content alike.

The main event takes place on 28 December 2025, where Hong Kong will host its first-ever large-scale IP character balloon parade. Starting from Hong Kong Palace Museum to M+ along the harbourfront promenade, this grand parade invites the public to experience these towering characters in motion, a vibrant, visual spectacle that is free to attend.
