Tokyo’s MENSHO X Lands In SG With Fiery Ramen & Mazemen

Share Article

A new wave of ramen has landed in Singapore, and it’s packed with flavour, fire, and soul. MENSHO X, the bold, fast-casual evolution of Tokyo’s cult favourite MENSHO TOKYO, has officially made its global debut at Raffles Place—with a second outlet slated to open later this year at Resorts World Sentosa. Helmed by Chef Tomoharu Shono, a decorated ramen master revered for blending traditional technique with creative rebellion, MENSHO X brings an exciting new chapter to Singapore’s ramen scene. Think elevated broth, next-gen noodles, and store-exclusive dishes designed for the rhythm of city life.

Crafted for the City, Rooted in Soul

At the heart of MENSHO X is a deep respect for ramen’s essential elements—tare, soup, noodles, oil, and toppings. But while its sister brand MENSHO TOKYO leans into thicker broths and whole-wheat noodles, MENSHO X offers a lighter, more nuanced take. Here, the signature toripaitan broth is infused with kelp, porcini, and shiitake, pairing effortlessly with thin housemade noodles.

Each location is built around its own store-exclusive identity, from noodle thickness and toppings to meat cuts and garnishes. It’s ramen, reimagined—crafted to surprise even the most seasoned noodle connoisseurs.

What to Eat at MENSHO X Raffles Place

Located at 6 Battery Road, just steps from the MRT, the 46-seater outlet is sleek, compact, and perfect for office lunch breaks or post-meeting power meals. Diners also get a full view of the kitchen action, adding theatre to every order.

Highlights from the Raffles Place menu include:

  • Mochi Mochi Mazemen (S$19): Thick, dry-tossed noodles topped with sake kasu-marinated kurobuta pork, mushroom menma, red and green onions, and nori. Served with a side of vegetable broth.
  • Toripaitan Tsukemen (S$19): Cold noodles dusted with porcini powder, paired with yuzu-infused toripaitan dipping soup.
  • Firebird Ramen (S$20): A punchy blend of chilli powders, Sichuan pepper, and black garlic oil in chicken broth. Topped with chashu, spicy minced pork, and fried garlic.
  • Toripaitan Ramen with Egg Yolk (S$19): The signature bowl, topped with silky egg yolk, slow-cooked kurobuta chashu, and king oyster mushroom menma.

All ramen and tsukemen orders come with a complimentary first serving of kaedama (extra noodles). A second helping is available for just S$3. (Kaedama not applicable to mazemen.)

Don’t Miss the Sides

MENSHO X offers more than just bowls. Dive into a flavour-packed lineup of sides designed to complement the ramen experience:

  • Takoyaki (S$6.80): Octopus fritters topped with bonito flakes, nori and takoyaki sauce.
  • Negi Chashu Rice Bowl (S$8.80): Braised pork chashu over Hokkaido rice with spicy tare and chilli paste.
  • Ikura Rice Bowl (S$12.80): Shoyu-marinated ikura with wasabi and pickled ginger, served over Japanese rice.

The Evolution of MENSHO

Founded in 2005, Chef Shono’s MENSHO empire spans Tokyo and San Francisco and has garnered praise from Michelin, Zagat, and the TRY Ramen Awards. With MENSHO X, he’s doubling down on modern ramen—faster, smarter, still full of heart.

This isn’t just a ramen shop—it’s a culinary playground. Expect seasonal specials, limited-time creations, and a dynamic menu that evolves with the times.
