Get ready to be swept off your feet, as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast makes its highly anticipated Asia premiere this December at Singapore’s iconic Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands. In a dazzling production that promises to blend nostalgia with cutting-edge innovation, audiences will once again fall in love with the timeless romance between Belle and the Beast. For Disney fans and theatre enthusiasts alike, this event is shaping up to be the ultimate holiday season highlight.
From the same brilliant producers and presenters behind the smash-hit Singapore runs of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen, comes the first Disney-produced Beauty and the Beast in over 25 years. Directed and choreographed by Olivier Award nominee Matt West, this brand-new production draws from the talents of the original creative team, including Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice, book writer Linda Woolverton, scenic designer Stan Meyer, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, and lighting designer Natasha Katz.
“For three decades, we’ve heard from audiences that the characters, songs and sweeping romance of Beauty and the Beast have touched them in a profound way,” shares Anne Quart, Executive Producer of Disney Theatrical Group. “This refreshed and human take on the show – with the scale and spectacle the title deserves – is for longtime fans and an entirely new generation.”
Disney Theatrical Group has long been synonymous with world-class productions. With Broadway successes like The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen under its belt, the company continues to innovate and inspire. The original Beauty and the Beast musical made Disney history, running for over 13 years on Broadway and touring to 37 countries, making it one of Broadway’s top ten longest-running shows.
Following phenomenal success in Australia, where ticket sales have surpassed one million across Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, the Singapore run of Beauty and the Beast is poised to set new records. “After the incredible success of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen, we are thrilled to present this timeless romance with the signature Disney magic,” says Chantal Prudhomme, Chief Executive Officer of Base Entertainment Asia.
Fans will be enchanted by the production’s breathtaking new sets, intricately designed costumes, and innovative state-of-the-art technology that brings the enchanting story vividly to life. Audiences can expect to be serenaded by beloved classics such as “Belle,” “Gaston,” “Be Our Guest,” and the titular “Beauty and the Beast,” alongside new arrangements and special songs written for the stage.
From the sweeping choreography to spellbinding illusions by Jim Steinmeyer, every element of this reimagined musical is meticulously crafted to offer a theatrical experience that will linger in your memory long after the final curtain falls.
From the timeless romance to the breathtaking visuals, Beauty and the Beast promises a journey filled with wonder, joy, and heartfelt nostalgia. Whether you’re revisiting the magic or discovering it for the first time, this spectacular production invites you and your loved ones to “be our guest” for an unforgettable night of theatre this December.
