  • Singapore Lights Up With Asia’s 1st Disney Cruise Inspired Show

Singapore Lights Up With Asia’s 1st Disney Cruise Inspired Show

Singapore’s skyline was transformed into a magical spectacle as Marina Bay hosted Asia’s first Disney Cruise Line-inspired sky show, celebrating the arrival of the Disney Adventure, the cruise line’s first ship to homeport in Asia. The dazzling event marked another milestone for Singapore’s growing cruise tourism scene and offered visitors a breathtaking evening of music, lights and storytelling along the waterfront.

A Magical Celebration at Marina Bay

The celebration, titled “Adventure Begins: A Magical Bay Celebration with Disney Cruise Line”, brought together Disney Cruise Line and Marina Bay precinct partners including UOB, Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Tourism Board. The event was held to commemorate the Disney Adventure following its maiden voyage from Singapore on 10 March 2026.

Opening the evening was a special live performance by Disney Legend Lea Salonga, one of Asia’s most celebrated musical theatre stars. She performed two beloved Disney classics, “Reflection” from Mulan and “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” from Cinderella, setting the tone for a night filled with nostalgia and wonder.

A Sky Show Over the Marina Bay Waterfront

The celebration concluded with a spectacular 10-minute sky show that illuminated the Marina Bay skyline with choreographed lights, music and visuals inspired by the Disney Adventure. Visitors were treated to a visual “journey” through the ship’s seven themed areas, including Disney Imagination Garden, Toy Story Place, San Fransokyo Street, Town Square, Wayfinder Bay, Disney Discovery Reef and Marvel Landing.

The display was set to a medley of beloved Disney songs including “When You Wish Upon A Star”, “Let It Go”, “Under the Sea” and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”, creating a magical atmosphere for spectators gathered across the Marina Bay waterfront.

A Local Touch to the Disney Celebration

In a special tribute to Singapore, the sky show incorporated locally inspired designs alongside Disney Cruise Line imagery. Visual elements included nautical-themed graphics, Peranakan-inspired motifs referencing Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, and the iconic Merlion, blending Disney magic with Singapore’s cultural heritage.

Several landmark buildings around Marina Bay were also illuminated in blue for the occasion, including Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, The Helix Bridge, UOB Plaza and The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.

Following the launch night, the sky show will continue on 14 and 15 March 2026 at 8.30pm, allowing more visitors and residents to experience the magical display from vantage points across the Marina Bay precinct. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the show from different locations around the bay rather than crowding a single viewing area.

A Two-Month Disney Celebration at Marina Bay

The sky show forms part of a larger two-month nautical-themed celebration at Marina Bay titled “Adventure Begins: A Magical Bay Celebration with Disney Cruise Line”, running until 30 April 2026. Visitors can discover themed photo spots, family-friendly activities and special promotions across participating merchants around the Marina Bay precinct.

The festivities celebrate the arrival of the Disney Adventure, a new ship inspired by more than a century of storytelling from Disney, Pixar and Marvel. Sailing from Singapore on three and four-night voyages at sea, the ship offers immersive entertainment, themed dining experiences and unique retail attractions designed for travellers of all ages.

  • Queen Elizabeth 2 Heritage Tour: A Floating Legacy In Dubai

Queen Elizabeth 2 Heritage Tour: A Floating Legacy In Dubai

In a city that prides itself on breaking records and reshaping skylines, it is rare to encounter a landmark that carries the weight of five decades of global history. Yet at Mina Rashid, quietly moored in a dock kissed by the Arabian Gulf, the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) awaits you and your loved ones for a different kind of journey — one that glides through time rather than waves. With the return of its newly enhanced QE2 Heritage Tour, this iconic ocean liner-turned-floating hotel invites you to relive its golden days, from transatlantic glamour to war-time service and royal encounters.

Launched on 20 September 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II herself, the QE2 was more than just a vessel. She was a marvel of engineering foresight — the first British liner to feature full air-conditioning, equipped with stabilisers to defy the choppy North Atlantic and later reborn as a luxury cruise ship. Over 5.6 million nautical miles and 2.5 million passengers later, her legend lives on, this time from the heart of Dubai, as a museum, hotel and immersive time capsule.

Rediscover a Masterpiece of British Engineering

The QE2 Heritage Tour is no ordinary walkthrough — it is a multi-sensory encounter with maritime legacy. From the Clydebank shipyards of John Brown & Co. to her role in the Falklands War and her cameo in celebrity folklore, every corridor and cabin tells a story. Whether you are stepping into the Captain’s quarters, the preserved vintage passenger rooms, or the garage that once held a Rolls-Royce, each detail has been painstakingly curated to showcase the ship’s design, versatility and indomitable spirit.

You will also get up close with authentic artifacts and rare memorabilia — navigational tools, historic photographs, personal mementos and artworks that anchor the QE2’s legacy not just in innovation, but in human emotion. It is a museum that moves — not by engine, but by storytelling.

Royal Moments, Afternoon Teas and Maritime Memories

For those seeking to pair nostalgia with indulgence, the QE2 Royal Afternoon Tea & Heritage Tour blends elegance with exploration. Available at The Chartroom and the legendary Queens Grill, this experience layers in a regal spread of scones, sweets and sandwiches after your guided walkthrough — all within the original interiors once frequented by diplomats, designers and dignitaries.

If food is your anchor, opt for the QE2 Dine & Discover package — combining the tour with lunch or dinner. Imagine concluding a walkthrough of the ship’s bridge and flag room with a modern meal under polished brass lighting and ocean-facing windows. This is history you can taste.

Perfect for Families, Travellers and Maritime Aficionados

For families, students or curious adventurers, there is also the dedicated QE2 Heritage Tour for Schools, offering a hands-on introduction to maritime innovation and global history. Whether you grew up dreaming of sea voyages or are simply in search of something new to discover in Dubai, this is an experience that transcends generations.

  • Century Oasis Cruise: Savour The Sights Of Scenic Three Gorges

Century Oasis Cruise: Savour The Sights Of Scenic Three Gorges

As part of our Chan Brother’s Zhangjiajie Tour Package in October 2024, Mom and I had the pleasure of embarking on a luxurious Yangtze River cruise aboard the Century Oasis. This leg of the tour offered the perfect blend of cultural immersion, scenic beauty, and modern luxury. Sailing along China’s iconic Yangtze River provided us with unforgettable memories and moments to cherish together.

Boarding at Zigui Port: A Historical Beginning

Our journey began at Zigui Port, located in Yichang, a city rich in history and the hometown of Qu Yuan, one of China’s most celebrated poets and statesmen. Boarding the Century Oasis here added a layer of cultural significance to the trip, as we reflected on Qu Yuan’s contributions to Chinese literature and patriotism. The historical backdrop set the tone for the meaningful journey ahead.

Upon arriving at the port, we were greeted with seamless service as service trams carried both us and our luggage directly onto the ship. This thoughtful touch not only made the embarkation process smooth but also gave us a chance to soak in the surrounding scenery before stepping aboard. The care and attention to detail at this early stage hinted at the luxurious experience that awaited us.

    Modern Luxury Meets Comfort

The Century Oasis redefines river cruising with its contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities. The ship’s sleek architecture is matched by its thoughtfully designed interiors, which offer a harmonious blend of elegance and functionality. Spacious lounges, panoramic viewing decks, and a rooftop Sky Deck ensure that every moment onboard is as breathtaking as the views outside.

Our cabin was a sanctuary of comfort. With a private balcony overlooking the river, plush bedding, and modern amenities, it quickly became our favourite place to relax. The room was meticulously maintained, with daily service that added a touch of indulgence to the experience.

The bathroom was spacious and well-fitted with all our expected modern expectations and more.

The VIP upgrade also provided access to an exclusive lounge where we enjoyed complimentary refreshments and attentive service, making the journey even more seamless.

    Onboard Culinary Experiences

Dining onboard the Century Oasis was an adventure of its own. The main dining room offered a delightful variety of international favourites alongside regional specialities that celebrated the flavours of the Yangtze region. Each meal was crafted with care, featuring fresh, high-quality ingredients and artful presentation. Complementing the dining experience, beer and wines flowed freely, ensuring a perfect pairing for every dish.

We chose to upgrade to VIP dining, which provided access to a private dining area conveniently located on the same floor as our cabin—a thoughtful perk that made mealtimes especially easy for my mom. The VIP dining room featured an elevated menu, live cooking stations where you could customise your orders, and a more intimate setting. Watching chefs prepare dishes to your preferences added an interactive and personalised touch to the experience.

While the VIP option included exclusive dishes and added conveniences, we found the standard dining experience to be just as satisfying, offering a wide range of delicious and thoughtfully prepared dishes. The availability of free-flow beer and wine in both dining options ensured that all guests enjoyed a premium experience.

One of the most memorable moments was enjoying afternoon tea sessions in the VIP lounge. Though the cakes were not free-flow, the artisanal teas paired beautifully with the selection of treats, and the backdrop of the majestic Three Gorges made every sip and bite feel special.

Whether dining in the main dining room or the VIP area, every meal onboard was a highlight of our journey.

Scenic Narration On The Sky Deck

One of the most memorable moments onboard was the narrated tour from the Sky Deck as the ship glided through the breathtaking Three Gorges. With a cool breeze and unobstructed panoramic views, we marvelled at the towering cliffs of Qutang Gorge, the narrowest and most dramatic of the gorges, with its steep walls rising high above the river.

As we sailed into the tranquil Wu Gorge, renowned for its ethereal mists and verdant peaks, the guide shared fascinating tales of the legendary Twelve Peaks of Wu, including the famous Goddess Peak. The final stretch, the expansive Xiling Gorge, showcased a stunning interplay of rugged cliffs and serene waters.

The onboard narration brought these landscapes to life, weaving in history, myths, and geological insights, making the experience not just visually spectacular but deeply enriching. Standing on the Sky Deck, surrounded by the majesty of nature, was an unforgettable highlight of the journey.

    Excursions That Enrich the Journey

The Century Oasis also offered incredible shore excursions that complemented the luxury of the cruise. A visit to the Tribe of Three Gorges at Xiling Gorge allowed us to explore charming villages and witness a traditional marriage ceremony reenactment. The performance, set against the stunning backdrop of the gorge, highlighted the deep connection between local culture and the river.

Another standout experience was the ship lift at the Three Gorges Dam. This engineering marvel, which elevates vessels 113 metres, offered a unique perspective on China’s innovation and provided stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Floating through the serene Shennv Stream, also known as the Goddess Stream, was equally captivating, with its crystal-clear waters and lush scenery evoking a sense of tranquillity. Depending on your cruise package, shore excursions may differ accordingly.

    Onboard Activities and Relaxation

When we were not enjoying the views from our stateroom, heading out for excursions or dining on delicious meals, the ship’s facilities provided plenty of options for relaxation and entertainment. The performance hall offered cosy evenings with performances and curated films, while the wellness centre invited us to unwind with spa treatments.

Evening entertainment onboard features traditional music, dance, and art forms, offering a cultural glimpse into the rich heritage of the Yangtze region. However, if you are accustomed to the polished productions of Royal Caribbean or Dream Cruises, it is important to adjust your expectations, as the performances here are more modest and have an amateur charm. If you enjoy Mahjong, chances are you will be spend hours bonding with your loved ones in one of these cosy rooms.

    Moments to Treasure

Every detail onboard the Century Oasis was designed to make our journey unforgettable. From the attentive service to the thoughtfully curated activities and excursions, the cruise felt like a perfect balance of luxury and exploration. Whether we were enjoying quiet moments on our balcony, exploring the scenic gorges, or sharing laughter over afternoon tea, the experience was filled with moments to cherish.
