  • Chopsuey Cafe Refreshes 2026 Menu With Playful New Flavours

Chopsuey Cafe Refreshes 2026 Menu With Playful New Flavours

There is something deeply comforting about returning to a place that feels familiar, yet discovering that it has quietly evolved. Chopsuey Cafe at Dempsey Hill enters 2026 with a refreshed menu that builds on its beloved Anglo-Chinese identity while introducing more than 15 new dishes that feel both nostalgic and gently surprising. Rooted in the playful fusion that has defined the restaurant since 2013, the new menu invites you and your loved ones to rediscover flavours that sit comfortably between East and West, tradition and curiosity.

The Anglo-Chinese Story Behind the Menu

Anglo-Chinese cuisine traces its origins to Chinese immigrants in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia, who adapted familiar recipes using locally available ingredients while adjusting flavours for Western palates. At Chopsuey Cafe, this culinary history is not treated as novelty but as heritage. The refreshed menu continues to honour this legacy, offering dishes that are unmistakably Chinese in spirit yet layered with Western techniques, textures and presentation. It is a style of cooking that feels intuitive, approachable and quietly inventive.

Set within Dempsey Hill’s lush colonial surroundings, the restaurant’s indoor and outdoor spaces provide a relaxed backdrop for meals that are meant to be shared. Whether you are gathering for a family celebration, an intimate dinner or a relaxed reunion with friends, the refreshed menu is designed to feel inclusive and adaptable, offering comfort without predictability.

New Dishes That Balance Comfort and Curiosity

The refreshed menu introduces a line up of dishes that rework familiar favourites with thoughtful twists. Sharing remains central to the experience, with dishes such as Chargrilled Pork Ribs and Aromatic Crispy Duck designed as interactive plates, paired with fresh herbs, sauces and wraps that allow you to build each bite according to your own preference.

Classic takeaway nostalgia is elevated through dishes like Black Truffle Prawn Toast, where king prawn paste, ebiko and truffle mayo transform a familiar snack into something more indulgent. Cheese Crust Dumplings deliver a satisfying contrast of crisp parmesan crust and vegetable filling, while Chicken and Pineapple Satay introduces a playful sweet savoury dimension to a regional staple. The Crispy Crab Rangoon nods to American Chinese heritage with creamy crab filling and a tangy dipping sauce that feels both retro and refined.

Vegetable-forward creations hold their own within the menu. The Crunchy Tofu Bao pairs five-spice tofu with crisp bean curd skin for textural contrast, while the Cold Sesame Noodle Salad brings together Sichuan sesame and vinegar for a tangy, refreshing finish. Sweet and Sour Mock Pork ensures that plant-based options feel just as indulgent, reflecting the kitchen’s commitment to inclusivity without compromise.

Signature Plates That Anchor the Experience

Beyond the new additions, the menu continues to showcase heartier plates that ground the Anglo-Chinese experience. From wok-fried Singapore Fried Beehoon to creamy Bang Bang Prawns and the richly spiced Ocean Trout Turmeric Curry, each dish tells its own story of flavour and fun. These plates reinforce what Chopsuey Cafe does best, delivering food that is familiar yet distinctive, comforting yet memorable.

Over the years, this balance has helped Chopsuey Cafe carve out a unique culinary niche in Singapore. The refreshed menu does not seek to reinvent the restaurant, but rather to refine what has always worked, ensuring that every visit still feels engaging and satisfying.

A Playful Take on Chinese New Year 2026

As Chinese New Year 2026 approaches, Chopsuey Cafe introduces a joyful Lunar New Year menu inspired by symbolism, wordplay and the spirit of abundance. Drawing from the chrysanthemum, long associated with longevity and well-being, alongside ingredients such as lychee and pomegranate that symbolise romance and prosperity, the festive offerings blend tradition with the restaurant’s signature whimsy.

Highlights include Yuzu Yusheng, Almond Prawn Fritters with Lychee, Chrysanthemum Roast Chicken, Pomegranate Pork Ribs, Squirrel Fish, XO Scallop Thermidor and Truffle and Foie Gras Rice. Desserts such as Chrysanthemum and Yuzu Pudding bring the meal to a gentle close, balancing sweetness with floral notes.

For larger gatherings, set menus curated for longevity and abundance offer a complete festive spread, making it easy to celebrate the Year of the Horse with intention and warmth.

Prosperity In Full Bloom At Ya Ge For Chinese New Year 2026

Chinese New Year 2026 unfolds with quiet elegance at Ya Ge, where the Year of the Horse is welcomed through a season of refined flavours, thoughtful craftsmanship and time-honoured culinary traditions. Titled Prosperity in Full Bloom, the celebratory offering reflects Ya Ge’s signature approach to modern Chinese dining, one that honours heritage while expressing restraint, balance and generosity. Available for dine-in and takeaway from 1 January to 3 March 2026, the experience is designed for you and your loved ones to gather meaningfully, whether in intimate settings or grand reunions.

An Auspicious Beginning with a Celebratory Toss

The festive table opens with Ya Ge’s Prosperity Yu Sheng with Yellowtail and Crispy Eel, a vibrant interplay of textures and freshness. Silky yellowtail is paired with crisp eel and dried shredded codfish, layered over freshly cut vegetables, pickled ginger, peanuts, seeds and sesame. At the centre lies Chef Sam Chong’s citrus dressing, crafted from freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice and gently reduced to intensify its fragrance. Bright, aromatic and uplifting, the toss sets the tone for abundance and renewal.

    Six Thoughtfully Curated Set Menus

To mark the season, Ya Ge presents six meticulously composed Chinese New Year set menus, each suited to different styles of celebration. From the approachable Abundance Set Menu to the luxurious Opulent Set Menu, alongside Success, Reunion, Fortune and vegetarian Longevity menus, each reflects auspicious symbolism, premium produce and refined technique. Available for both per person dining and table formats, the menus cater seamlessly to gatherings of every scale.

The Opulent Set Menu as the Festive Pinnacle

At the height of the celebration sits the Opulent Set Menu, a statement of festive indulgence. Highlights include Double boiled Collagen Soup with Shark’s Fin, Crab Meat and Prawn Dumpling, Steamed Red Garoupa prepared in classic Hong Kong style, and Stir fried Australian Lobster with Glutinous Rice Wine Sauce, where gentle fermentation lends layered warmth. The menu continues with Stewed Yellow Jade Sea Cucumber with Nostoc and Organic Cauliflower, Eight Treasures Vegetables wrapped in lotus leaf, and Braised 5 Head Abalone with Inaniwa Udon in a rich abalone sauce, expressing abundance through quiet confidence.

    A Thoughtful Vegetarian Interpretation

For plant-forward celebrations, the Longevity Set Menu offers a refined vegetarian experience rooted in premium ingredients and restraint. Dishes such as Vegetarian Goose Yu Sheng, Double-boiled Matsutake Mushroom Soup with Nostoc and Bamboo Pith, Braised Mocked Abalone with Organic Cauliflower and Sautéed Yunnan Black Tiger Palm Mushroom with macadamia nuts and asparagus demonstrate depth, texture and satisfaction without excess.

Signature Dishes That Define the Season

Among the seasonal highlights, the Double-boiled Golden Fish Maw with Asian Moon Scallop and Imperial Tribute Chrysanthemum stands out as a masterclass in patience. Old hen is slowly simmered into a full-bodied broth before prized fish maw, scallop and wild tribute chrysanthemum are introduced, resulting in a silken, aromatic soup traditionally associated with nourishment and well being.

Equally compelling is the Smoked Grilled Pi Pa Chicken, prepared through an exacting multi step process that culminates in charcoal grilling and final smoking just before service. Lacquered, aromatic and deeply savoury, the dish brings a moment of ceremony to the table. The Steamed Yellow Croaker with Fennel in Chicken Broth and the Deep-fried Deshelled Prawn with Fish Floss and Shrimp Roe further showcase Ya Ge’s precision, from delicate aromatics to textural indulgence.

  • Savour Tea Beyond The Cup At Garden Of Senses: Tea Reverie

Savour Tea Beyond The Cup At Garden Of Senses: Tea Reverie

Tea is often approached as a habit, a flavour, or a comfort, yet its deeper meaning lives in the quiet moments it creates. From 28 January to 7 June 2026, Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie unfolds at the Asian Civilisations Museum as a first-of-its-kind immersive showcase, inviting you to rediscover tea not just through taste and aroma, but also through sight, sound, touch, and thought. Presented in collaboration with CHAGEE and the Singapore Tourism Board, the exhibition repositions tea as a deeply human ritual shaped by centuries of craftsmanship while continuing to evolve through modern creativity.

    Where Heritage Meets Contemporary Imagination

This landmark showcase marks the Asian Civilisations Museum’s first collaboration with a global lifestyle brand. By weaving together museum collections and contemporary practices, Garden of Senses creates a fresh and reflective way to engage with tea heritage. Tea appears not as a static artefact, but as a living practice that has shaped daily life across cultures and generations. The experience encourages you to slow down, reconnect with your senses and reflect on how a simple cup of tea mirrors human life itself.

A Curated Journey Through Stillness and Connection

Designed as a progressive journey, the exhibition brings together historic objects, contemporary interpretations and newly commissioned artworks by local creatives. Sculptural installations inspired by tea leaves, immersive soundscapes, fragrance-driven encounters and tactile explorations of tea-making tools invite you to experience tea in ways that feel intuitive and contemplative rather than instructional.

Artist Ashley Yeo presents an atmospheric installation that evokes the presence of tea leaves through floating paper forms, drawing attention to slowness, materiality and perception. In contrast, Symphony of Tea by Alecia Neo and composer Clarence Chung explores tea through sound, rhythm, and gesture, inspired by ASMR practices and the idea of human connection. These works do not demand attention but gently invite it, encouraging quiet observation and shared presence.

Tea as a Social and Sensory Practice

Throughout the exhibition, historic tea wares are presented as 3D-printed replicas alongside contemporary CHAGEE cups, creating a visual dialogue between past and present. Nature-inspired communal spaces are thoughtfully integrated, offering moments to pause, sit and reflect. Together, these elements mirror the social rituals that have long surrounded tea, positioning it as a practice that brings people together, whether in conversation, silence or shared contemplation.

An Extended Experience Along the Singapore River

The experience extends beyond the museum galleries with a dedicated CHAGEE pop up along the Singapore River. Here, you can explore a full selection of CHAGEE beverages alongside merchandise that was previously available only in China. Specially designed plush charms will also be introduced, including a limited edition light blue variant available exclusively to showcase ticket holders and a light brown variant offered at the pop up. Each charm blends the imagery of a horse, referencing ancient tea routes travelled by horseback, with Singapore’s iconic Merlion, symbolising the meeting of tea heritage and local identity.

    Planning Your Visit

In a city that rarely slows down, Garden of Senses offers you and your loved ones a rare moment of stillness. By engaging the senses gently and intentionally, the exhibition reminds you that tea is not simply something you drink, but a ritual that has always carried meaning, memory and connection across time.

Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie runs daily from 28 January to 7 June 2026 at the Asian Civilisations Museum. The exhibition is presented as part of the museum’s All Access ticket, which grants same day admission to all exhibitions. Admission is priced at S$12 for Singaporeans and permanent residents, and S$25 for others.

Tickets and further details are available via https://www.nhb.gov.sg/acm/whats-on/exhibitions/garden-of-senses and https://www.trip.com.

From a Small Kiosk to a Regional Lifestyle Name

Founded in 2013 as a humble neighbourhood coffee counter by entrepreneurs Kevin Poon and Gerald Li, Elephant Grounds grew from a simple idea of creating a café that mirrors everyday life. Poon, a cultural tastemaker and art collector, continues to shape the brand’s lifestyle and design direction, while Li oversees its culinary development. Together, they have built a brand where culture, craft and daily utility intersect naturally, earning Elephant Grounds a loyal following across Hong Kong and beyond.

The Singapore outpost stays true to Elephant Grounds’ core philosophy while responding to its new urban setting. Set within Guoco Midtown, the space offers a carefully considered indoor and outdoor layout that feels open, airy and grounded in nature, even as the city moves around it. Pet-friendly and family-friendly, the café is designed as a genuine third space, not home and not office, but somewhere in between where you can pause, people-watch and reconnect with friends, family and yourself.

A Bakery That Anchors the Space

At the heart of the double-volume interior sits the bakery, both literally and emotionally the centre of the café. This marks only the second Elephant Grounds location in the region with an on-site production kitchen and dedicated baking team, following the much-loved Hollywood Road outpost in Hong Kong. It is also the first and only food and beverage concept within the development to bake everything from scratch daily.

Throughout the day, breads, pastries and croissants emerge warm from the ovens, shaping the rhythm of the space from early morning coffee runs to long, unhurried weekends. Widely regarded as one of the best croissants to come out of Hong Kong, Elephant Grounds’ version uses a non-traditional lamination technique blending French and Japanese methods. The result is a crisp, flaky, golden-brown pastry offered in classic styles and indulgent variations including chocolate, almond and the crowd-favourite banoffee.

    Coffee as the Foundation

Coffee remains the soul of Elephant Grounds. The House Blend is sourced directly from Ijen Lestari, a Cup of Excellence-winning farm in East Java, and roasted in-house to deliver clarity, balance and character. Alongside the signature blend, premium single-origin coffees are calibrated with precision, catering to both casual drinkers and seasoned enthusiasts.

The coffee programme extends beyond the café walls. Elephant Grounds’ OG Blend is available as whole beans, drip bags and coffee capsules, allowing the Coffee n’ Chill experience to continue at home, at work or wherever your day unfolds. A carefully curated drinks menu rounds out the offering, featuring premium matcha, teas and selected alcoholic options that transition effortlessly from morning to evening.

    Food Designed for All-Day Living

Food at Elephant Grounds is designed to be enjoyed without rules or rigid timings. Signature brunch favourites include the much-loved shakshuka served two ways. Mr Shakshuka pairs toasted sourdough with chorizo, feta and cilantro, while Mrs Shakshuka offers a vibrant plant-forward version with tofu, zucchini, pumpkin, black olives and spicy tomato salsa.

Pancake lovers can lean into comfort with the original stacks and maple syrup or opt for wild berry pancakes layered with fresh cream, almond flakes and berry coulis. Founders’ Granola, made in small batches using preservative-free rolled oats, dried apricots, nuts, seeds, maple syrup and coconut oil, anchors breakfast bowls and lighter plates throughout the day.

As the day unfolds, heartier options take centre stage. Tuna poke donburi with avocado, spring onion and onsen egg sits alongside steak gyudon topped with chimichurri and crispy shallots. Linguine carbonara with onsen egg and parmesan caters to pasta cravings, while the EG Burger delivers comfort through a wagyu patty, cheddar, rocket and tomato, served with fries. The menu is intentionally versatile, supporting everything from solo laptop sessions to relaxed group dinners.

Weekday Mornings, Weekend Brunch and Beyond

Weekday mornings introduce Good Morning and Chill, a menu designed for those on the move but unwilling to compromise on quality. Options include PB and J toast on milk bread, croissant or sourdough, mango coconut overnight oats, a hearty breakfast burrito and a Florentine Benedict finished with yuzu hollandaise.

On weekends and public holidays, Brunch and Chill brings together a decade of favourites, from the Morning Cereal bowl and Buddha Bowl to the Farmer’s Omelette and corned beef hash. Asian-inspired comfort dishes such as truffle baked pork chop rice with oat-crusted Ibérico pork and black truffle egg fried rice add a distinctly Elephant Grounds twist.

The brand’s cult ice cream sandwiches, launching in Q2 2026, add a playful dimension to the menu, blending nostalgia with bold flavours and textures. A dedicated merchandise corner will also roll out between January and February 2026, featuring reusable tumblers including collaborations with MiiR, apparel for adults and kids, tote bags and the OG espresso blend grounds for those who want to bring a piece of the café home.

A Space Built for Everyday Life

Elephant Grounds Singapore is conceived as a contemporary urban refuge, a place designed for lingering rather than rushing. It invites you and your loved ones to press pause, observe the city at your own pace and find comfort in the familiar ritual of good coffee and well-made food.

Located at 124 Beach Road, Guoco Midtown, Unit 01-04, Elephant Grounds Singapore opens daily from 8:00am to 8:00pm, welcoming Singapore into its evolving Coffee n’ Chill story.

POP MART Golden Gallop Series Usher In CNY 2026 At RWS

Chinese New Year often arrives with familiar rituals, yet every new season brings an opportunity to experience celebration in a fresh way. For Chinese New Year 2026, POP MART Golden Gallop Series seek to transform Resorts World Sentosa into a vibrant creative playground. Inspired by the energy, confidence and forward momentum of the Year of the Horse, the activation brings POP MART’s most beloved characters into a festive narrative that celebrates imagination, movement and joy.

Twelve Iconic Characters Reimagined for the Season

At the heart of The Golden Gallop Series is a specially curated lineup of 12 POP MART characters, each reinterpreted through a celebratory lens inspired by the spirit of the Horse. Familiar favourites such as LABUBU, DIMOO, SKULLPANDA, PUCKY and HACIPUPU take on new festive expressions that reflect themes of vitality, optimism and renewal.

As you explore Resorts World Sentosa, these characters appear as life-sized installations thoughtfully integrated into the environment, turning everyday walkways into moments of surprise and delight. Rather than feeling staged, the experience unfolds organically, inviting you and your loved ones to slow down, look closer and reconnect with the sense of wonder that POP MART is known for.

An Immersive Journey Across Resorts World Sentosa

The Golden Gallop Series is designed as a discovery journey rather than a single destination. Installations are spread across key locations within the resort, including WEAVE and the Singapore Oceanarium, encouraging you to move through different spaces while encountering each character along the way.

To deepen the experience, an interactive passport activity invites you to collect stamps at 12 designated stations across five themed zones. Completing the journey unlocks a limited edition Golden Gallop sticker sheet created exclusively for this celebration. It is a playful, low-pressure way to turn exploration into a shared festive memory.

Exclusive Collectibles for POP MART Enthusiasts

Anchoring the activation is a dedicated POP MART pop-up store located at WEAVE. Here, you can discover an exclusive Golden Gallop collector’s box set featuring all 12 characters from the series. Created specially for this collaboration, the set is available only at Resorts World Sentosa, making it a meaningful keepsake for those who appreciate POP MART’s blend of art, storytelling and design.

The launch also marks the beginning of a broader collaboration between POP MART and Resorts World Sentosa in 2026, hinting at more creative expressions and experiences to come throughout the year.

Welcoming the Year of the Horse with Creativity and Joy

The Golden Gallop Series goes beyond decoration or retail. It is a celebration of movement, imagination and shared moments, values that resonate strongly with the Year of the Horse. By weaving POP MART’s characters into the fabric of the resort, the activation creates space for connection, curiosity and lighthearted celebration.

For you and your loved ones, it offers a refreshing way to usher in Chinese New Year 2026, one that blends contemporary pop art with festive tradition, and transforms an everyday outing into a playful journey filled with colour, charm and optimism.

  • Rempapa By Damian D’Silva Brings Heartfelt Heritage Flavours

Rempapa By Damian D’Silva Brings Heartfelt Heritage Flavours

Some restaurants tell stories through technique. Others through trends. Rempapa tells its story through memory. As it opens its doors at National Gallery Singapore, Rempapa by Damian D’Silva feels less like a relocation and more like a return home. For Chef Damian, this move carries deep personal meaning. He spent his childhood years living within the caretaker quarters of the former Supreme Court, now part of the National Gallery. To cook here today is to come full circle, bringing the flavours of his past into a space that shaped his earliest memories.

Where Singapore’s Heritage Finds a New Rhythm

Set within one of Singapore’s most important cultural landmarks, Rempapa feels entirely at ease. The restaurant brings its comforting, multi-ethnic heritage flavours into a setting steeped in national history, creating a quiet harmony between place and plate. This is food that reflects who we are as a society, shaped by generations, cultures and shared tables.

Here, you and your loved ones can pause amid the grandeur of the Gallery and reconnect over dishes that feel familiar yet thoughtfully refined. The experience is warm, accessible and intentionally unpretentious, echoing Chef Damian’s belief that local cuisine should always remain relevant and within reach.

    Comfort Classics with Heart

At this new Rempapa, the focus shifts towards rice-based dishes and beloved local favourites. Signature nasi lemak sets take centre stage, offering combinations such as ayam berempah, sambal sotong and lamb shank rendang. Each plate is designed to evoke the comfort of home while reflecting years of culinary experience and careful balance.

Alongside these classics, you will also find a refined take on kaya toast, served on thick shokupan bread. It is a simple pleasure, elevated through craftsmanship and restraint, bridging nostalgia with modern sensibilities.

A Space Designed for Ease and Everyday Moments

The National Gallery outlet introduces a fully self-service concept, allowing you to enjoy Rempapa’s dishes in a more relaxed and casual way. Natural light fills the space, complemented by warm tones and thoughtful details that make the restaurant feel welcoming rather than formal.

Whether you are stopping by for a quick meal or lingering longer with family, the environment encourages ease. It is designed for real life, for everyday meals that still carry meaning.

    Preserving Stories Through Taste

Rempapa has always been Chef Damian D’Silva’s personal contribution to Singapore’s culinary narrative. Each dish draws from memories, family recipes and the shared heritage of a multicultural nation. At National Gallery Singapore, this mission feels even more poignant. Food becomes a way to preserve stories that might otherwise fade, passing them gently to the next generation.

This new chapter also coincides with the opening of Gilmore & Damian D’Silva, Chef Damian’s tribute to his grandfather, Pop. Together, both concepts reflect a lifelong dedication to safeguarding Singapore’s food heritage, ensuring it remains alive, accessible and meaningful for the young and the young at heart.

    Plan Your Visit

Rempapa by Damian D’Silva is located at 1 St Andrew’s Road, #01-02A, National Gallery Singapore 178957. It opens daily from 8am to 6pm. More information can be found on its website and social channels.
