House 1881 Hong Kong, previously known as Hullett House, has unveiled five new dining concepts, each one designed to honour the historic destination. With each venue offering you a different cuisine and mood, the five outlets are an integral part of House 1881’s commitment to creating engaging, meaningful experiences for guests and visitors.

House 1881 Hong Kong – Introducing the 5 Concepts

The Former Marine Police Headquarters, the site is now a cultural landmark and a reminder of a bygone era. Arriving at House 1881, guests leave the frantic flurry of Tsim Sha Tsui behind and enter a historic haven of manicured gardens, colonial architecture and elegant surroundings. Within this cultural landmark, the five venues – Fortune Villa, Stable Steak House, Stable Bar, Café Parlour and The Sergeant’s Bar – invite guests to reflect on Hong Kong’s rich heritage and explore a variety of cuisines and concepts.

1. House 1881 Hong Kong – Fortune Villa

Fortune Villa is a Cantonese fine-dining restaurant serving authentic dim sum crafted from traditional recipes and locally-sourced ingredients. Blending opulence and old-world charm, Fortune Villa juxtaposes a modern dining experience within a heritage setting. Signature dim sum selections include the Baked Abalone Puff with Diced Chicken and Steamed Bean Curd Rolls with Duck Web, a long-forgotten culinary tradition revived by Fortune Villa’s master chefs.

Fortune Villa also presents a special fishing village-themed menu featuring ingredients that convey the culture and customs of Cantonese cuisine. These include handmade condiments and dried goods from iconic local businesses, such as bean curd from Liu Ma Kee and bean curd sheets from Shu Kee or traditionally cured products, such as shrimp paste and pickled vegetables, prepared by local villagers.

2. House 1881 Hong Kong – Stable Steak House

Stable Steak House is the go-to venue for steak connoisseurs. Originally intended as the property’s horse stables (with the antique stable doors still intact), the restaurant has been redesigned as a modern eatery serving premium cuts of meat and fresh seafood.

While you appreciate views of the surrounding lush greenery, they can discover a selection of steaks from around the world, including premium A5 Wagyu beef from Japan, each one accompanied by a selection of over 40 salt varieties. Other signature dishes include the beef consommé, slow-cooked for 12 hours to present the purest flavours in a clear broth, and lobster bisque, made using every part of the shellfish to create a rich, full-bodied dish.

3. House 1881 Hong Kong – Stable Bar

Stable Bar, located above the Stable Steak House, is the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day. Boasting a comprehensive menu of artisanal cocktails, spirits and wines, the bar also boasts the largest gin collection in Kowloon with 102 types of gin from around the globe. Highlights include local Perfume Trees Gin and you are welcome to customise their gin with their tonic of choice.

Signature cocktails include Teaspresso, a reimagining of the classic Espresso Martini, and Smoked Negroni, a favourite of cocktail connoisseurs. With attention paid to every detail, the herbs used in the cocktails are all homegrown and freshly picked as required.

4. House 1881 Hong Kong – Cafe Parlour

Café Parlour, situated in the main heritage building, affords you balcony views of the central courtyard. Exuding colonial elegance, the all-day eatery serves a signature afternoon tea set, homemade cakes and pastries, light snacks and Indian fare, the latter a nod to the property’s former life as the Marine Police Headquarters.

5. House 1881 Hong Kong – The Sergeant’s Bar

The Sergeant’s Bar, formerly a watering hole for police officers and visiting sailors, is now a laid-back hub for you to enjoy craft beers, themed cocktails and delicious bar snacks, including the self-proclaimed “best fish and chips in town.”
