Sofitel Macau – Waterfront Luxury Within Macau Historical Quarters

When visiting a city, it is wise to stay right smack in the centre of everything. The reason is simple – being in the heart of it all saves time and cost on transport. Sofitel Macau At Ponte 16 was the perfect choice for our recent trip to Macau. Well placed along Macau’s picturesque waterfront, the hotel nests in the centre of the charming historic quarter, with a walking distance to the UNESCO world heritage sites. Join us as we explore Sofitel Macau and see how this charming hotel balances the glamorous mix of classic and modern styles with its surrounding.

    Sofitel Macau – Arrival & Check-In

If you are coming over from Hong Kong or direct from Hong Kong International Airport, take the ferry to Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal. This terminal is far closer to the hotel than Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal. Upon arrival, look out for the Sofitel Macau At Ponte 16 shuttle bus and it will whisk you to Sofitel Macau’s grand lobby in less than 30 minutes (when the traffic is moderate).

Once the check-in is completed, hop on to one of these lifts to our rooms! Grandeur presentation is the norm for Macau’s luxury hotels and Sofitel is no different.

Sofitel Macau – The Standard Rooms, Junior & Prestige Suites

Sofitel Macau commands a total of 408 rooms. These include 10 Prestige Suites and 19 units of the Mansion at Sofitel. We will let you have a glimpse of our room which unfortunately is just one of the normal rooms within the hotel.

The fun part of the room – you get to decide your preferred level of privacy. The bathroom blinds can be lifted with just a flick of a switch!

With a view like this, there is no need to explore another vantage point to take in the bird’s eye view of the city.

The Junior & Prestige Suites adds a living area and of course, an even more luxurious bedroom.

Sofitel Macau – The Exclusive Mansion At Sofitel

The 19 units of the Mansion at Sofitel have their own private set of lifts. The lift opens up to one of the hotel’s proudest attraction – The Lotus Pond.

With different design themes, the 19 units of mansion provide the finest in-room technology for convenience and peace of mind when travelling. The Bridal White theme is one of our favourites, it makes you feel like a French Queen.

  • Conrad Hong Kong Lobby Lounge Afternoon Tea – Imagine With PAPINEE

Conrad Hong Kong Lobby Lounge Afternoon Tea – Imagine With PAPINEE

Afternoon tea used to be a formality reserved for the wealthy, but living in the modern time allows us to use a bit of imagination and creativity to turn the everyday teatime into a wonderful experience. In collaboration with PAPINEE, the global Children’s Storytelling Social Enterprise, Conrad Hong Kong Lobby Lounge Afternoon Tea will take you on a magical adventure from 9 May to 30 June. Based on the brand’s story and the PAPINEE Horse – Rus, hotel executive chef Claudio Rossi and pastry chef Billy Yuen has created an array of French pastries and snacks whimsical as those in the tea parties of a fairytale.

The PAPINEE Horse, Rus XIV the Stallion King, originates from traditional French folklore. Borrowing from the luxurious aesthetics of the era of Louis XIV, Rus acts as a symbol of magnificence and power. It teaches us to be loyal and courageous to follow our dream. These lessons not only apply to the leaders of tomorrow, we as adults also need to be reminded of our sense of imagination which enriches our world. In light of this, chef Billy exudes his culinary vision in the blackberry and lavender mousse gateau, one of the key items in this afternoon tea promotion. Its white and purple glazing and the lavender flavour is both homages to the Rus and to Provence, the featured region of Le French GourMay 2018.

Other special creations include Opéra PAPINEE, a remake of the classic French cake using Provençal almond, in line with the dynamic pattern of the PAPINEE Horse. The meringue lemon tart reminds you of summer nights in France in which families share moments of happiness. Besides these fantasy-like desserts, the afternoon tea also serves hot items such as seafood quiche and spinach and feta puff, as well as open sandwiches with French toppings. Those who want to push the boundary even further can choose the “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, a fanciful concoction of milk oolong, lime, lavender, espuma and gin (with mocktail option available) by the hotel’s mixologist among the drink options. Alternatively, free-flowing Perrier-Jöuet champagne will also be available for an additional HK$208*.

The PAPINEE afternoon tea is priced at HK$518 for two and HK$318 per head, inclusive of a PAPINEE Inspire Kit+ with a storybook and colouring postcard which you can bring home at the end of the meal. Mums who wish to share the magical moment with their children can sign up for the family afternoon tea (HK$998*) on Mother’s Day, 12 May. The buffet-style afternoon tea will begin at 3pm, followed by an art jamming session at 5pm to let the imagination of adults and kids alike run wild. Throughout the promotion period, PAPINEE’s colourful products will be sold at the pop-up store at the hotel to enliven your homes.

  • PMQ Hong Kong Old Town Walkabout Exhibition Relives Fond Memories

PMQ Hong Kong Old Town Walkabout Exhibition Relives Fond Memories

PMQ Hong Kong Old Town Walkabout Exhibition is a new interactive exhibition that focuses on the scenes and neighbourhood of Central and Sheung Wan area in the 50’s and 60’s, and relives the daily lives of the yesteryear through vivid illustrations, real-life props and trick art. You can step back into the old days and immerse yourselves in scenes including traditional barber stall and lion dance parade using nostalgic props. The exhibition is currently open until 31 March 2018 at PMQ.

PMQ Hong Kong Old Town Walkabout Exhibition – Thematic Booths

Two thematic booths, Traditional Barber Stall and Lion Dance Parade, are being set up at the verandahs outside S506 and H502 respectively, while Time Warp trick art installation will be showcased starting from mid-February. The exhibition is open for free from 7am to 11pm daily during the exhibition period.

    Lion Dance Parade

Lion dance, as a traditional performance, played a crucial role in the lives of old Hong Kong. In Asian culture, lion dance symbolises good luck and fortune, therefore it can be seen alongside the thunderous sound of firecrackers in various festive celebrations. You are invited to experience the festive atmosphere by mimicking the lion dance and big Buddha using the props!

    Traditional Barber Stall

Tri-coloured barber poles, silver stainless steel scissors, high-back leather barber chair… all of these were once the symbols of traditional hair salons. These traditional barber stalls are progressively replaced by modern hair salons and are no longer a familiar sight in Central. This exhibition brings the traditional barber stall back to life and allows you to step back into the decade.

PMQ Hong Kong Old Town Walkabout Exhibition – Time Warp Trick Art Installation

Take a peek at the old street scene with Time Warp. The installation makes use of trick art technique to mimic the street scenes viewing from a balcony of the former Police Married Quarters, allowing you to immerse themselves in nostalgic scenes of old Central and Sheung Wan. It will be available from mid-February on Ground Floor of PMQ, a not-to-be-missed for photo-op lovers!

PMQ Hong Kong Old Town Walkabout Exhibition – Nostalgic Paper Dolls Souvenir

The standard of living during the early days was quite far off from today’s. Quintessentially, paper toys were a common favourite pastime for kids in ordinary families and up to date, it remains as one of the most time-honoured toys in Hong Kong’s history.
