Dream Academy®’s fourth season of the biggest local live standup comedy event, HAPPY EVER LAUGHTER THE BATTLE takes things to a whole new level. They will be pitting 12 of Singapore’s best comedians against each other on The Capitol Theatre stage from 11 to 29 July 2018. Savour the actions from the sidelines as they pull no punches in a no-holds-barred full-chuckled fight to the rib-tickling end. They will be trading punchlines. They will be tearing down each other’s cool and calm exteriors. They will be throwing all caution and niceness out of the ring!

HAPPY EVER LAUGHTER The Battle – Which Side Are You On?

Team A – Irene Ang, Koh Chieng Mun, Selena Tan, Sebastian Tan a.k.a. Broadway Beng®, Suhaimi Yusof and Kumar will be defending their egos and reputations against Team B – Alaric Tay, Judee Tan, Sharul Channa, Fakkah Fuzz, Preetipls and Rishi Budhrani.

Each and every one a household name, each is well-loved by their fans and has huge followings who trail them from show to show, club to club and city to city. THE BATTLE will bring out their natural comedic instincts and call forth their rapier-keen ripostes.

Which team will win the bragging rights to be the true representatives of the best in local comedy?

HAPPY EVER LAUGHTER The Battle – The Ammunition

Nothing will be off-limits – searching for new PM, flooding in MRT, dwindling staff and readers at SPH, increasing GST and retiring in JB. No one and nothing will be spared when these sharp-tongued and quick-witted performers train their critical eyes on what is bothering and bewildering Singaporeans and their foreign friends these days.

So, if you’re looking for laughing aches from belly to brain, grab a ring-side seat, get close to the action and see for yourself who emerges victorious as THE BATTLE unfolds!

HAPPY EVER LAUGHTER The Battle – The Contenders

1. Kumar

By far the most iconic legend of Singapore comedy, it would be difficult to find a Singaporean who has not heard of him or who does not recognise him. From the Boom Boom Room to The Ra Ra Show, celebrating his 50th birthday this year with Kumar50 has only made him sharper and wittier.

2. Suhaimi Yusof

No stranger to fans of local mainstream and Malay entertainment, he is well known for his comedy portrayals of familiar Malay characters on TV.

3. Preetipls

Not your average social media personality, she has taken Singapore’s local Youtube scene by storm and has entertained tens of thousands with her hilarious videos and comically charming personality.

4. Fakkah Fuzz

One of the fastest rising talents in the comedy scene who made his debut performing regionally and was recently featured in his own Netflix special.

5. Sebastian Tan a.k.a. Broadway Beng®

One of Singapore’s most well-known multi-faceted performers, especially as Broadway Beng®, who celebrated his 10th anniversary with a series of sold-out concerts.

6. Alaric Tay

Diverse actor, comedian and award-winning filmmaker best known for his characters on The Noose such as Andre Chichak and Taxi Driver Nicholas Le Fong. He recently directed HBO comedy series Sent.

7. Irene Ang

The Founder and CEO of Fly Entertainment became a household name in Singapore (and some say Malaysia) as Rosie Phua in Singapore’s longest-running sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd.

8. Koh Chieng Mun

The radio presenter since 1983 became famous as an actress for playing housewife Dolly in the popular local sitcom Under One Roof.

9. Sharul Channa

A popular face in the local live comedy scene and one of the few female stand-up comedians as well as the very first to do her own solo standup show.

10. Rishi Budhrani

The actor, host and comedian who became the first Singaporean to win the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition and to perform at the Gotham Comedy Club in NYC. He has brought his standup comedy regional ever since.

11. Judee Tan

Versatile theatre, television and film actress who is best known for her roles as Teo Chew Moi (TCM) and characters on The Noose such as North Korean correspondent Kim Bong Cha.

12. Selena Tan

Director, actor, writer and producer who founded Dream Academy in 2000 and has remained focused on producing creative local comedy ever since.

There you have it. 12 Comedians, 2 Hours, 1 Champion dishing out brand new material and new jokes from the biggest names in local comedy.
