From 13 September 2024 to 2 February 2025, Singapore will be home to the international premiere of illumi Singapore, the world’s largest light, sound, and multimedia event. Located at the Bayfront Event Space, this breathtaking showcase will dazzle visitors with over 20 million LED lights, bringing to life 9 themed worlds filled with spectacular installations, immersive environments, and vibrant performances. Whether you’re a local or visiting Singapore, this is an experience you won’t want to miss.
illumi transforms the Singapore skyline into a magical landscape of light and sound. The ceremonial lighting was led by Chantal Prudhomme, CEO of Base Entertainment Asia, and Normand Latourelle, creator of illumi and the acclaimed Cavalia show, who flipped the switch on a night that will be remembered for its sheer scale and brilliance. Yasminne Cheng, Singapore’s beloved media personality, hosted the event, captivating audiences with her charm as she introduced the world to this extraordinary experience.
At the heart of the event is ILU, a fun and symbolic otter representing the elements of Water, Earth, Metal, and Thunder. ILU embodies illumi’s values of unity, curiosity, and environmental stewardship, serving as a friendly guide through the spectacular light-filled worlds. Visitors will see ILU throughout the event, helping to promote a deeper connection with nature and environmental sustainability.
illumi invites you to explore 9 uniquely themed worlds, each offering a different sensory experience. Wander through The Enchanted Maples, where glowing maple leaves illuminate the sky, and enjoy sweet treats from the charming Sugar Shack. In Walls of Lights, a winter wonderland comes to life with shimmering snowflakes and garlands of lights, creating a magical snowy atmosphere.
Animal lovers will adore Puppies and Kitties, where hundreds of cats and dogs frolic freely in a peaceful park. Over in the stunning Magical Forest, multicoloured trees and exotic wildlife, including towering giraffes and graceful flamingos, await your discovery.
Don’t forget to stop by the iconic illumi Tree, a 47-metre-tall installation, the size of 5 Merlions stacked together, which lights up the entire event space with over 50,000 luminous, interactive spheres.
Your journey continues with the vibrant Tunnel of Colours, where LEDs light every inch of the passageway, transforming reality into a kaleidoscope of colours and tricking the senses. Over at The Dune Palace, the magic of the Sahara comes to life with flying carpets, bustling souks, and even camels snacking on fresh fruit under the stars.
For those looking for something prehistoric, The Jurassic Kingdom brings dinosaurs roaring to life in an epic Hollywood-style adventure. And at The Infinite Poles, penguins and igloos await as you lose yourself in an endless icy wonderland where North and South meet.
illumi isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about sustainability too. The event uses energy-efficient LED lighting to minimise its environmental footprint. Many of the installations are made from recycled materials, including components from Cavalia’s famous tent. By integrating sustainability into its operations, illumi sets an example of how large-scale events can prioritise environmental responsibility while delivering an unforgettable experience.
