To commemorate International Women’s Day (8 March), The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore will be presenting the Purple Afternoon Tea, an annual fund-raising initiative dedicated to advancing women’s empowerment. Served from 1 to 28 March 2024, S$5 nett from the proceeds of each adult’s purple-hued Afternoon Tea set will be donated to United Women Singapore (UWS), a non-profit organisation committed to advancing women’s empowerment and fostering gender equality.

This will also mark the first year that the Purple Afternoon Tea is presented by The Fullerton’s Senior Pastry Sous Chef Jamie Ho, one of the key talents behind the signature Expressions Afternoon Tea menu at The Landing Point. Her beautiful pastry creations will be served at The Courtyard, located at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore (from S$60* per adult) and at The Landing Point, located at The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore (from S$65* per adult). You are also encouraged to show your support — those who come dressed in any shade of purple will receive a complimentary purple mocktail.

“For the sixth consecutive year, The Fullerton Hotels Singapore will be celebrating International Women’s Day with the Purple Afternoon Tea, our annual fund-raising initiative that has been well- received each year. We are delighted to collaborate with UWS once more, as part of our commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and the spirit of unity in the workplace,” says Mr Gino Tan, Country General Manager, The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts.

“UWS has had the privilege of working with The Fullerton Hotels Singapore for over six years and we are extremely grateful for their support and unwavering commitment to our cause,” says Georgette Tan, UWS President. “Their dedication and generosity continues to strengthen our mission towards women empowerment, and a more inclusive and equitable society.”

Purple Afternoon Tea and Mocktail

As  the  official  colour  of  International  Women’s  Day,  purple  symbolises  justice  and  dignity  and  is historically associated with efforts to achieve gender equality.

For this year’s edition of the Purple Afternoon Tea, Senior Pastry Sous Chef Jamie draws inspiration from the enchanting allure of a moonlit garden. Guests can look forward to a purple-tinged medley of savoury and sweet, adorned with edible blossoms; reminiscent of the beauty that emerges beneath the soft glow of the night sky.

The savoury repertoire derives its purple hues from natural ingredients, with creations such as beet- cured smoked salmon topped with caviar, and sous vide Boston lobster with ikura finished with a dusting of purple cabbage powder. On the sweeter side, delicate notes of blossoms and berries intermingle in elegant desserts like violet choux pastry and blackberry sakura chocolate tart.

You and your loved ones can show your support by coming dressed in any shade of purple will also receive a complimentary glass of the specially concocted ‘Flights to New Heights’ mocktail, an effervescent blend of butterfly pea flower syrup, grenadine, lime juice, pineapple juice, and soda. Staying true to the ritual, each set will be served with freshly baked scones, clotted cream, and jam, alongside a premium beverage selection from TWG Tea and Bacha Coffee.
